Funny you should point to that game, since the Jets only won because of a bullshit call never made before or since, in a case where the league agreed that the Jets had done the same thing earlier in the game and the league had taught the rule differently during the preseason. 17 for 33, 233 yards, 1 TD 1 INT. Tremendous POW material right there.
That's one of the 2 games the Jets got credited for as wins directly because the officials gave them the game on blown calls. Mr. 8-8 really was no better than 6-10, and his statistical season was basically the same as Sanchez' rookie year.
Sanchez as a rookie: 63 QB rating with 12 TDs and 20 INTs
Smith as a rookie: 66.5 QB rating with 12 TDs and 21 INTs
Great call there, though, bringing up a gifted win at home against a Patriots team that was absolutely devasted by injury at the time.
