Lets say they convert 5 million of Bowes 8.5 million base and another 5 million of Halis base salary to a bonus and then extend Berrys deal to lower his cap number to something close to 7-8 million per year.
That means we have just given the team about 22 million to spend in free agency this offseason and haven't significantly hindered the cap in the future.
With 22 million, we can do something like this....
Sign TJ Ward or Jarius Byrd for something between 6-8 million per year.
Sign Maclin/Cooper to a deal between 2.5-4 million per year.
Re-sign Husein Abdullah to a deal worth 2-3 million per year.
Sign Geoff Schwartz to a deal averaging 2-3 million per year.
Sign Tyson Jackson for 3-4 million per year
And then go out and get a guy like Ebron in the first round and get some good values after that.
BOOM...we give Peyton a run for his money the next year or two and by the third year, a lot of the big contracts expire and we make some more moves.
I'm afraid they are gonna stand pat and we are gonna have an offseason similar to the one prior to the 2004 season and that's not the type of offseason that gets teams like KC to the next level.
