The question is will it be enough angry straight white guys to keep the party viable - especially as you gain smaller and smaller percentages of every other minority group - as your angry white guy rhetoric alienates them even further*.
*see Arizona, Republican primary debates, CPAC topics, immigration reform, Ted Nugent, Todd Akin and his rape theorist buddies, "states rights", forced trans-vaginal ultrasounds, etc.
I can second this sentiment although my peer group is younger (I'm 33). A lot of people who were much more tolerant when we were younger have shifted. Some who were mildly racist are now solidly racist. What's weird about it to me is that we had a very diverse school and never had any racial problems when I was there (BIG UP RAYTOWN!). I see a lot of shit from people I would have never expected to have shifted that way.
What's also weird is a lot of them have latched onto the gun rights issue even though they aren't hunters or big gun enthusiasts (seen this from men and women).
It's a shrinking demographic though and if the gop doesn't want to continue its slide into obscurity then it needs to figure out a way to open the party up to others.
