Easily and honestly. Why is it awkward? "Sometimes men love each other the way I love mommy". You don't have to go into pornographic detail.
Nobody is going to break into your house and start butt-****ing in front of them. It's as awkward of conversation as you make it, and since kids need explaining why they should hate things, that probably makes it harder for those who have to explain why they should hate it. Kids are adorably innocent.
