I did read where the Pilots flight sim is on its way to Quantico for further scrutiny by the FBI. That tells me what ever was erased wasn't just you standard send it to Windows recycle bin and delete. The FBI experts on site couldn't retrieve and calls for more drastic measures.
Also some retired General on Fox News says he has reliable sources that people in the Pentagon think it landed in Pakistan. He wouldn't name but said they are high ranking.
