Usually something like that. Sometimes they will work up to a 1rm or 3rm. Other times it will be sets of 3 or 5 reps at a % of your 1rm.
I remember doing bench press one day 10 sets of 2 reps. We worked our way up until we couldn't complete 2 reps on our own and then worked back down if necessary. It was was fun & different doing a heavy bench day in a group setting like that.
