The Green Bay Packers select Gator... actually no. They're not ****ing doing that. Because it's a stupid joke. From the mind of a stupid man.
The Green Bay Packers actually select Billy Turner, OG/OT, North Dakota State
I'm not interested in adding another rookie to the mix at center. That would only create a logjam of mediocrity. The Packers are legitimately impressed with JC Tretter, who they drafted in the 4th last year but who also had a season ender in preseason. Outside of that, they're looking to TJ Lang and Don Barclay to possibly fill the roll, kind of the way Evan Dietrich Smith filled in and actually did very well and earned himself a longterm deal in free agency.
What they'll need outside of that is somebody who can play multiple positions with a bright future. It's unknown if Bulaga can hold up over an entire season given that he's missed 1.5 seasons' worth of games the past two years. If they can't get a replacement on the right side, then at the very least they'll need a talented guy for depth on standby when one of those positions inevitably opens up due to injury... like it does every goddamn season for the Packers.
So in addition to being one of the top 5 players left on the board, Turner's also filling a pretty big need.
