The Vikings' draft:
1.8- Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA
2.40- Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State
3.72- Bishop Sankey, RB, Washington
3.96- Rashaad Reynolds, CB, Oregon State
4.108- Trai Turner, OG, LSU
5.148- Kelcy Quarles, DT, South Carolina
6.184- Devin Street, WR, Pittsburgh
7.223- Brandon Linder, G, Miami (FL)
I feel pretty damn good about it. The only glaring significant hole that wasn't addressed was MLB. To be honest, though, this was one of the worst drafts in recent memory for ILB prospects, especially those playing the Mike in a 4-3. Outside of Mosley, I didn't see any ideal fits that had good draft value and who were significantly better than the plethora of middle-late round picks from 2013 and 2012. Max Bullogh would have been really nice to draft, but he was snatched up immediately before my pick in the 6th. I was high on Gerald Hodges in last year's draft, and I think Minnesota would do well to give him a shot. They might be pleasantly surprised considering the boost they'll get from their pass rush with the Barr pick.
They got a pretty damn good defensive playmaker that Mike Zimmer loves to have in his defense (Barr). They got their QB to hopefully make Cassel STFD and
sooner than later. They re-bolstered their interior line for the new QB and for the dwindling twilight years of AP's career. And along the way they found some pretty nice ****ing depth.
Let's see Rick Spielman do a better job than this.
