He has to be careful with Robin, if Robin dies, it's not like Littlefinger would inherit the Vale from him. Not sure who would, someone in the Arryn family I assume. So I think Littlefinger is best off with Robin alive and being Lord of the Vale with Littlefinger controlling him or being his guardian or something. I think he might lose the Vale completely if Robin dies.
