You're right, the defense was exceptional early on and was the main reason for most of the victories, BUT Smith played within the confines of the offense and game plan at the time. When it was time for him to make plays - he did - like in the Philly game. (Dallas game as well) For that I absolutely do give him credit for being a good QB for more than just the 5 games you gave him credit for being. We have far different opinions on the matter.
