I've heard this a lot, and I really disagree with it. It's about building anticipation. And when we got the payoff, it was awesome.

To me a monster movie that shows all it's cards from the start gets boring really fast. That's what I didn't like about Pacific Rim. (and I love Del Toro) It's just too much to take in. By the end, you're numb to it.

I thought it was handled very well here. I'm a big Godzilla fan, and I got what I wanted. Being made to wait for it probably helped a lot.
