My main wants are small, reliable, 45 caliber, and a good safety.

I already have 2 glocks and they are good for what they are but not good to carry IMO

He ended up selling it and buying the XD for carrying and he freaking loves that compact CC XD, it shoots just as well as the Kimber (kick wise) with no additional headaches. The best thing about the kimber is people will pay big $ for them so he ended up selling the Kimber for what he paid for it.
I have the Kimber Ultra CDP II and I love it. I did have a couple rounds fail to feed when the gun was brand new. It just needed a little break in. I bought this as a carry gun and have worn it all across the US while riding across country on my bike. Never had a bit of problem with the finish and no problem with the way it shoots. It kicks harder than a full size 1911 but nothing to severe. That is expected when shooting a 3 inch .45.

The gun is about 4 years old and has had several thousand rounds down the pipe. It is wearing well and is still very solid. If I were hard pressed to come up with something that bothers me about my Kimber it would be the trigger is a little rough on my finger. My trigger finger gets a little sore after shooting 200 rounds.
