Chevy Chase was, and always has been very difficult to work with. Fun behind the scenes bullshit from Harmon himself: When they terminated Chase's contract, he could not come on set at all. No interaction with the other cast, or crew. So that hologram segment was shot in a different studio, with a different crew for season 5.
What's funny is as far as I know, Harmon and Chase have a great working relationship now.
