Wouldn't it be possible that while the official video of the incident was not available because of the open case against Rice, that a soon-to-be-laid off security employee made a copy of the video and independently approached TMZ for money?
I'm not saying that the NFL is clear here...the existing video and knowledge of the incident itself should have led to an indefinite suspension, IMO. But it does seem plausible that while the NFL pursued legal channels, TMZ circumvented that through unofficial channels.
