But I would encourage you to do a bit more recent research on spanking, not just for the sake of the child but for you the parent as well. The research is out there on how ineffective spanking is as a conditioning tool in parenting. It might generate short term results, but it doesn't make a child more obedient or less likely to break the rules. In fact, spanking is largely counterproductive to those goals.

I don't have any kids, but I was one once. I think that gives me all the qualifications I need to tell you that that research is 100% wrong.
The idea that physical pain (or the threat of physical pain) is not a deterrent is preposterous.
