I do not believe this. I think there's no way the Chiefs let Houston walk or sign him longterm this offseason. He's too valuable and maddingly difficult to sign.

I am betting the Chiefs have to franchise tag him. Let's bet on it, since you were comfortable doing so in another thread.

If Houston is on the tag (either playing or holding out) by Week 1 in 2015, I get to determine your username, avatar, and signature until Week 16. I'll let you back to normalcy by Week 17 and any playoff run the Chiefs might have.

If Houston is not on the tag, you can name your terms.

From the other thread.

Well, "letting him walk" is a generous term there, there's always the chance that we just can't give him the money he thinks he's worth, and he walks. I'm not sure on the qualifications of tendering agents and whether or not he's a RFA at the end of the season, but if he is, we'll likely place a poison pill tender on him if we simply can't get a deal done. We won't, however, be franchising him, as its a waste of a usable contract option going into the future and absolutely EATS up cap room next season, of which we'd likely be unable to receover from for 3 seasons including the 2015 season. Also, I don't think you can tender him for a 1st and 3rd.

The liklihood here, is that we sign him to a contract LOADED with guaranteed money, but with a small salary cap figure. Something closer to the deal that I believe it might have been Julius Peppers got many years ago where it was like, fully guaranteed. Its likely the only contract option that the two sides will eventually agree on, as Justin gets his "big money" guaranteed, and the Chiefs save a few Mil on the cap year after year while we churn the rest of the aging vets out of the system.

Since we made me a thread though, lets cover Tamba Hali right now though. I hate to say it, because I love the guy so much, but I'm starting to move closer to the "middle" on the idea of cutting Hali after this season. He's older, though in the best shape of his life, but he's been rather unproductive lately, and unless he steps his game up huge, I see him as a small chance, but possible cap casualty in the off season, UNLESS he does what I suggested, and signs a team friendly deal. I ONLY see Hali getting cut if Dee Ford starts getting reps in the system and shows production, though.

I don't think he qualifies, but I'm fairly certain there is a tender option still.
