Every one has haters. That being said, Dale Earnhardt was always popular, yes even more so in later years and was threat for a championship every year leading up to his death. The same can not be said about Elliott before he pretty much gave it up. Dale Sr. had what? 6 championships? Bill had IIRC, 1.
Elliott was a fan favorite simply because he was the underdog. Everyone loves the underdog.
You're still wrong about Keselowski and last Sunday. He did nothing wrong.
Even Brian France says he did nothing wrong. Jeff Gordon has even said himself if he didn't cut a tire he wouldn't have been pissed. Cut tires happen all the time in stock car racing. It's just bad racing luck. Sometimes you make that rub and nothing happens. On rare occasions a tire will get cut.
