Whatever your list of the best TV shows of all time, there a good chance watching Deadwood will occasion an alteration of that list.
And the added richness is that it's based in reality. Reality that is actually even more bonkers than Milch represented it in his Shakespeare-ian way.
Even though we are in 'The Golden Age of TV' we still haven't seen anything quite like Deadwood, largely because people with Milch's grasp of history and gift for prose don't grow on trees.

Season 1 - Just outstanding.
Season 2 - Still very good, but getting shaky.
Season 3 - Kind of an effort to get through it.
