DT Malcom Brown, Texas -- A powerful two-gapper with a thick base, Malcom Brown already looks fairly polished as a run plugger and passrusher. He's got a powerful frame (6'2", 320 lbs), with much of his weight being in his butt and thighs ("sand in the pants," as they say), which makes him a damn near block of granite at the line of scrimmage. He toyed with lesser lineman this year in the run game -- holding the lineman at arm's length, and discarding them zealously to consume the RB -- and eventually teams just gave up trying to run on him. That will be more of his role in the NFL than passrushing, despite the fact that he put up great numbers against the pass in 2014. He's just too slow off the snap to be anybody's penetrating three-tech, but he does have a small arsenal of moves in passrushing that would make him ideal for 4-3 teams looking for a nose-guard-type to keep in on all three downs. At the top of his game, he looks like a Top 50 prospect, but at this point his (only) weakness is inconsistency in his technique. When Brown loses discipline in his technique, he can be destroyed off the line of scrimmage. But there's no team in the league that doesn't think they can't fix that in a season or two's worth of work, and I'm willing to bet Brown comes off the board in the 2nd round.
