Every incremental difference in air pressure will make differences in the performance of the football. In racing cars .25 of 1 psi makes notable differences in the performance of that car. It doesn't take very much to make the balls slightly easier to catch, throw, and keep control of.
This is a game of inches where one inch of the 3600 inch field can be the difference between winning and losing. It would not take much pressure to be just as important to the outcome of the game.
If the Pats are found to be guilty the NFL should punish the Pats hard. It would not be the first time they have been caught cheating under the same HC.
