That's how the show was. The book was different characters than the show, and handled the Tickler's death differently:

She had a mean guy that she had to work for there and who beat her regularly killed first, I forget the second, but it wasn't a Tywin henchman, and the third was Jaqen who then had to help her to avoid being named.

In the book, Arya kills the Tickler herself in an excellent scene at the Tavern when she and the Hound have to fight. Arya jumps on the Tickler and stabs him over and over again while screaming out the questions he would ask while torturing people..."Is there gold in the village!?!" It's an awesome scene. Arya is hard core.

On the show, they had her kill Polliver in that scene instead, and she kills him exactly like he killed her friend Lommy. That was cool also.
