All of these guys were great, there's no doubt about that.
But I'm going to tell you a few things.
First, Jamaal Charles is the greatest running back who has ever played in the NFL. His yards per carry proves that.
Second, Jamaal Charles blocks like a pulling guard.
Third, Jamaal Charles is one of the fastest players in the league and can still change directions on a dime.
Fourth, Jamaal Charles is a great receiver and would almost certainly be our #1 receiver if he wasn't the greatest running back in NFL history.
Some other Jamaal facts:
1. He scored the most touchdowns in a game since 1965 when he scored five against the Raiders. The only other Chief to score five in a game was Abner Haynes in 1961.
2. The only other Chief to score four receiving touchdowns in a game was Frank Jackson in 1965, and Jamaal also added a running touchdown in the same game.
3. He has had five 1000+ yard seasons, averaging more than 5 ypc in every one of them.
4. Here is his career yards per carry compared to a few less talented running backs:
Jamaal: 5.5
Jim Brown: 5.2
Barry Sanders: 5.1
Walter Payton: 4.4
Eric Dickerson: 4.4
Marshall Faulk: 4.3
Emmitt Smith: 4.2
But this isn't just about numbers. This is about greatness. I offer you Jamaal Charles against the Redskins.
And Jamaal Charles laying down a pass block.
And Jamaal Charles showing a little speed.
And Jamaal Charles making a nifty one-handed catch.
