This format has been used on TSN.com for the past month or so, (any NHL fans might have noticed).
There isn't much of a difference, although people will initially be annoyed by not being familiar with the new layout.
On a side note, ESPN sucks. Any article that may be somewhat interesting is for "insiders". There's no way I'd pay to read a word from the babbling stoner, Matt Williamson.
There's also the issue of regurgitating televised video with no other content to support it other than a written summary of the video.
The team blogs are the only redeeming factor, but only for the fact that they provide links to other outlets.
