Nothing to be ashamed of. You've been indoctrinated in western beauty standards since birth while (I'm assuming) being predominantly surrounded by whites.
Even a lot of blacks share that sentiment. In the black community there's this weird fascination with light skin and light (blue, green, hazel, grey) eyes. Black women also basically destroy their hair with perms trying to emulate white hair. That's why you'll often see a lot of black girls struggling to grow long hair.
It's all ****ed up, really.
