There are lots of theories about what's actually happened to Jon (GRRM has never really faded to black after a key character death before), but no one knows for sure. Some people think he will be brought back to life by Melisandre. Others think he warged into Ghost before dying and will live on in that form. Or maybe he's just plain dead. The interesting thing will be seeing if GRRM manages to get the next book out quick enough to prevent the show from resolving that story before the books do.

I think once Melisandre left Stannis and went to the wall, we can confirm where this is headed. I stand by my point: Shireen died for a reason, just might not be the reason it appeared to be at the time.
