I don't get it. Why is it impossible for KU fans to admit their football program is pathetic? You can trot out any measure you like, including that one winning season in the last 20 years. Doesn't matter. This is still a nationally relevant program in their minds.
Missouri fans don't have any problem saying their basketball program is pathetic right now. Most would say we had a pathetic AD for a long time. Some on CP (the only place I have seen this phenomena) think Pinkel is worthless.
The stark difference is that Missouri fans have a realistic picture of where both their programs are, and are not out trying to convince everyone that their school is the best at everything there is to do.
How did this come to be? Can the beakers just not bear to show any weakness? Are they bitterly disappointed at not being able to parlay that one winning season in the last 20 years into any further success? Just a lot of t-shirt fans until February and March? Why the difference?

Strawman much? People aren't arguing whether MU will be better this year or the past few years - it would be pathetic if you weren't better than a team who just fired its coach.
Here are the topics we argue: 1) the value of football vs hoops, 2) historical comparison of MU-KU football, 3) value of SEC vs Big 12, 4) fan interest locally. That's it. And on every one your fans here most certainly do not "admit" a damn thing. That's why we address those delusions.
