He is one of the few pitchers in the entire game that can make a ball run to all four quadrants of the strike zone; it's how he gets so much soft contact. He can 'tunnel' his pitches and yet they can end up in 4 different spots. He's also a damn ground ball machine; he reminds you a lot of the days of Duncan and crew.
I'd love to see him stay in STL but I doubt we pick up his option this off-season. Frankly, at only an additional $11 million to pick it up vs. buy him out, if he can give us 150 innings, I'd pick up the option.
After Lohse got his thoracic outlet surgery, he was right back to being the guy that earned the extension to begin with. It's possible, though unlikely, that the surgery did the same for Garcia and if so, he'd be a steal on his next 2 option years.
I just think stuff is unique in baseball and really does rival some of the better lefties in the game.
