Justin Houston may have the best chance of this group to actually put pen to paper this week on a long-term deal. The dialogue between him and the Chiefs has been long-ongoing, they have made significant progress and the Chiefs know that franchising him two years in a row is going to cost them well over $30 million over two years already. As the elite among the elite at rushing the passer, and just entering his prime, Houston likely falls in somewhere around J.J. Watt in terms of compensation, and I wouldn’t expect it to cost less than $15 million a year to secure his services. Kansas City paid big for Alex Smith when push came to shove and there is no doubt Houston is the best player on their team and a true difference maker.
