Gussie Busch was a REMARKABLY terrible owner. Let's not even get into the battles he had with his own damn family that screwed up the organization or the time he fired Harry Caray for banging...well somebody in the Busch family. He dismantled the talent on the field several times. Royals fans are still burned over trading Beltran because he didn't want to spend $100 million in free agency. Gussie Busch traded Steve friggen Carlton (during the reserve clause era, no less) over a few thousand dollars due to a petty temper tantrum.

That would be like trading George Brett at the beginning of his arb years for a lefty reliever because he didn't want to get paid the league minimum.
