Why would you pay a significant price to bolster the team's greatest strength when there are so many other glaring weaknesses, like 1B and a legitimate LH bench bat.
We still need another LH reliever, as Scroate isn't trustworthy and Siegrist has a bad reverse platoon split. Theoretically, they could do that with Cooney/Lyons, but I doubt that Elder Choate gets bumped.
Lynn, Lackey, Martinez, Garcia, Wacha
If healthy, Lynn, Lackey and Garcia will certainly start in the postseason. If the org has a brain in their heads they'd start Martinez as the #2 or #3, but we'll see.
So you have to ask yourself this from a playoff perspective: what is the marginal value between David Price and Jaime Garcia/Carlos Martinez? Is it likely to make more of a difference than having a legitimate 1B or a LHR who can actually be trusted against lefties?
I don't think so. For other teams, sure, but not this one.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I'm not sure there's a 1st baseman out there or one that's available. A lhr yes, easily.
The price inquisition was more so for a long term situation but he's a bit older than I had thought
