Castro got a shot at closing this year and despite throwing insanely hard, simply can't miss bats. His fastball is razor straight. He looks like an 8th inning guy to me unless he can find a way to get some movement on that heat.
Blue Jays fans love Hoffman but still had him behind Norris for the most part when discussing their prospects. That said, it's hard to take them that seriously, they were refusing to part with Norris OR Hoffman for Cueto AND Chapman. Fans are idiots.
Reyes is owed another $50+ million over the next 2+ seasons. That's friggen insane. He has to carry a TON of negative equity in trade talks.
To my eyes Kaminsky, Tuiavaila and Piscotty for Tulowitzki and about $20 million destroys this deal. Now there are still reasons for the Cards not to make it given what it would do to their payroll structure going forward, but the Cards could have easily trumped this and with the state of their offense, they probably should have considered it.
Hell, maybe they did and decided to keep the payroll $$ clear. It's still a little disappointing.
