Yes, the NFL denied it the day after the reports came out. But then when Vincent sent Kraft the letter, he specifically said they couldn't be reinstated without NFL approval. Seems to me that Curran's version (which is unquestionably based on Patriots' sources) is likely accurate given what Vincent then says in his letter.
