Oh, no doubt about it. There are a couple inescapable truths we'll need to come to terms with: the fact that Andy Reid and Alex Smith are who they are at this point. Reid is going to call some absolutely masterful games from time to time. Most times he'll be decent and throw some real head-scratchers in there just to confound us. Alex is limited. He just is. He's never going to put the team on his back and as long as he's QB we'll always lose these shootouts and close games with great teams more often than not.
But..
We're still healthy.
Our defense is monstrous. The run defense last night was ****ing incredible. Jaye Howard is a load, DJ being back is invaluable, Houston is the best pass rusher in the league, Peters has the opportunity to be a top 3 CB by season's end, and role players like Mauga, Devito, and Abdullah are really stepping up.
Our offensive line is young, but capable and primed to get better.
Maclin, Kelce and Jamaal are every bit as good as advertised.
There are reasons to be optimistic...
