I really do not get this rationale.
The Chiefs have never made any promises of success.
We all voluntarily made the decision to become a fan. For most, I think, were children. I was 12. Something like that. Early 80s, anyway.
Well, I suppose I could blame the Belton, Mo. police for handing out those Chiefs cards.

I don't have a choice. My entire family is Chiefs. Everyone is always going to games, it's part of the culture.
I grew up watching Dave Szott and John Alt and Kevin Ross, etc.
I can't choose another team lol.
Hell, I'm convinced the NFL is rigged and I still can't quit watching the games
Point is, it's been a LONG time since the Chiefs had a team that legitimately could compete for a Super Bowl.
Now that we finally have the team, we have a HC and a QB that accentuate each other's deficiencies.
All it would take is for Reid to realize what Smith is and what Smith ISN'T.
Smith is NOT able to throw the ball 30/40 times a game, ideally. He's better than Trent Dilfer...but he's not as good as Drew Brees.
Reid should hand over play calling duties to Childress - who, not coincidentally, was Reid's OC in Philly when they went to 4 straight NFC Championship games and a SB, and when Childress called plays when he won 2 straight division titles and was 1 game away from a SB as HC in MIN as well.
