A new OL isn't going to fix Alex Smith. All a new OL would do is buy him time to check down. He's still going to be afraid to throw the ball. The only way to improve Alex, sadly, is for him to have zero confidence in his defense.
A new OL would allow Jamaal to win games for you and hide Alex. But I really don't want to go back to that world. It's lose-lose. You basically have to root for your defense to suck to get your QB to elevate his game.
