Correct.
Without getting too personal, it's part of why I have some of the issues, "the great conflict", as I call it.
Like, I write these songs with my brother, and we dig em so we want to share em, right??
Well, the Avenue to share is to make records, but you can't get the money to make the records without playing shows...
So we play shows. Over 500 at this point. And I realized...my only connection is really to the music, and the people that really like it. Unfortunately, they're in the minority.
The majority of the people we play to, couldn't give a shit less about us. We're background noise. We're a soundtrack to their buzz. That's all.
Also, I look around and see everyone drinking and partying and...someone is making a LOT of money. And it's never really us. I'm not complaining, because we get paid good, compared to other bands of our age and experience...but it's still just peanuts, ya know??
So, I play because I love it...I love writing songs, recording them, playing live, and hanging with my bros.
Everything else about being in a band sucks balls. Sometimes I just want to get a job, but then I realize there are no jobs and the grass is always greener, so I suck it up, bias my tubes, and load my gear.
That's about the closest you'll get from me in the ways of a "heart on my sleeve" confessional...
