A true franchise QB, like a Peyton Manning or John Elway come around once every 10 or 15 years and they don't get past the first pick in the draft.
Then you have good but not elite QB's like Eli, Stafford, McNabb, and Matt Ryan who come around every two or three years and they are snatched up within the first 3 picks.
Then you have guys like Big Ben and Aaron Rodgers who do slip a bit and for every 1 of them there are a dozen Brady Quinn's.
Kaepernick broke it down in a different thread, but QB's drafted outside of the top 5 have an 86% bust rate (no Pro Bowls, no Super Bowls). And while 54% of QB's drafted inside the top 5 have made a Pro Bowl, only 10% ever won a Super Bowl.
