I think the Joe Buck situation is an accumulation
He's a nepotism hire
He's a shadow of his father
He has a hateable face
He and Aikman in the booth together look like the centerfold for 'Blue Boy' magazine
He screams 'sure I went to boarding school, but I can hang at your frat party'
He goes prudish in high profile settings [Moss' 'absolutely disgusting' TD celebration].
His praise is easy to tune out and his criticism is like nails on a chalkboard.
None of them in themselves make him the worst announcer on earth. But each one gives the viewer a unique and legitimate hook to hang their hate on, and it festers and festers, then comedians make fun of him, then Artie Lange destroys his HBO show, and before you know it he's a pariah.
