Cardinals outfielder Matt Holliday is working hard at first base in Jupiter, Fla.
Holliday was said to be resistant to a move during the season. According to spies who have seen workouts over there, Holliday is doing it on his own to try to lengthen his career, but if he looks really good there, maybe they'd still consider free-agent OF Alex Gordon.
In any case, with the losses of Jason Heyward, Jon Jay and Peter Bourjos, there isn't much outfield depth in St. Louis. So they'll need to sign someone for the outfield, preferably someone who can play center field.
Holliday, 35, hit .279 last season with four home runs and 35 RBI. He was limited to just 73 games due to injury.

I hope they fully vet that move, I can just envision him doing an "ole" on one of Yadi's missles throwing behind the runner. He also struggles to judge anything hit in the air high enough that others converge as well. I am surprised he hasn't at some point in his career re-enacted the Jose Canseco ball off the melon in the outfield. The odds will probably go up with infield sky balls. If he wants to really prolong his career, seek out a team he can stomach to DH for and let us work out a deal. He would rake as a DH.
