I'm not sure why people find it so hard to believe that games are being fixed. The mob invented the NFL specifically for circumventing a law that prevented gambling on Sundays.
That is the origin of the NFL...
The writer of Interference stated that 26 current or past owners had gambling/mob ties.
With the advent of internet gambling...people think it just magically went legit? I think most grew up not being privy to the actual history of this league...and are having a tough time accepting its not what they thought. It will be rigged until they legally move away from "sports entertainment" and are regulated.
