What you should have learned in a decade of watching Alex Smith is that he is only as good as his defense and running game can make him.
He's the QB equivalent of Captain Dan after getting his legs blown off in Forrest Gump. If he's got a hoss to strap him to his back and hump his dead weight through the jungle, he's OK. Otherwise, he's just going to lay there and slowly, painfully bleed out.
There were many of us who realized that from the jump. How you can't realize it after a decade of watching this clown is just mystifying. And sad.
