Brees is a good example, you also forgot Farve, and Steve Young, or even Kurt Warner...I'm sure there's a few others. The difference between those QB's and Alex is one thing.
Let's not be silly and talk about Brady being drafted in the 6th round as a team **** up...the draft is a crapshoot and both he and Montana are evidence of such.
The trading of Smith proves that the San Francisco franchise did not think he could put the club over the top. With Kapernick they came very close...much closer than KC has come in nearly 23 years.
