Davis was a good reliever before the Royals tried to get him back to starting (and then made him a reliever again).
Karns command will be as big an issue for him in relief as it would be as a starter. I don't think this is one of those 'eh, if he can't start, he's still a nails reliever' scenarios that comes with guys who struggle to develop a 3rd pitch.
Karns has a fundamental weakness that would be a problem for him regardless of role. This one has a little more risk to it. But you also have 4 years of team control here and that's quite a bit of value for one year of Dyson.
