I was thinking to myself, what the flippin' hell is with this sudden love affair with Josh Dobbs suddenly, so I just went back and watched 5 games of his: Alabama 2015, Florida 2015, Vanderbilt 2016, South Carolina 2016, and Texas A&M 2016.

I came out of this liking him less than I did before. I mean, there's literally nothing aside from this guy's running ability that makes me think he's a legitimate pro QB prospect. Yes, he spins a relatively nice ball, but man he needs some serious work from a decision standpoint and a ball placement standpoint.

In every single game I noticed these flaws:

- Stares down primary target. Sometimes he reaches a 2nd read, but not usually. Way too much 1 read and run with receivers open.

- Throws balls into very tight coverage. I'm not talking about plays where his guy is covered but he zips one to where his receiver has a shot and not the defender. This guy forces passes that are just bad news. Corners draped on receivers, double and triple coverage, etc. Alabama should have had an easy 3 picks. And there was at least one throw in every single other game that should have been an easy INT that wasn't.

- Ball placement is horrendous and inconsistent. Throws passes low into the dirt, throws behind receivers, and overthrows receivers. He throws behind his TEs constantly on crossing routes. He throws high or outside of his receiver way too often. He can't have this in the pros. It's not just a bit bad, it's terrible.

- Throws receivers into big hits or what will be big hits in the NFL. This kid, when he isn't off target, is throwing his receivers into some pretty bad shots that you just have to avoid in the NFL. There was a play in the Vandy game where, if he makes that throw in the NFL, Kamara is leaving on a stretcher.

- Slow pump fake that he uses too much leading to turnovers. He's gotta put this to bed. There is a time to use a subtle pump, but not when pressure is coming from the outside and your standing 7 yards deep in a pocket. Make a decision and let it rip.

- Has to cut down the turnovers. Ball security seems to be an issue for him. He's gotta clean that up. Way too many bad picks and what should have been bad picks. Back to decisions, he's gotta learn to make good ones.

These aren't things that I was nitpicking or trying to nitpick. These are obvious, serious flaws that stand out in every single game and multiple times per game. He had an atrocious right tackle, so there's quite a few plays I didn't even evaluate because of that and pretty much all of them ended badly. There was an INT he threw against SC that I didn't account for because his LG blocked his man right into him as he was throwing. So, I've already adjusted this a bit for the bad things. His receivers missed a couple catches, but nothing out of the ordinary that you'd expect. Actually, less than I expected.

If I were an NFL team, I probably wouldn't touch the kid before the 5th and at that point I'm saying that the kid has some tools but he has a long way to go just to climb from #3 to #2. He is not, by any stretch (looking straight at you Todd McShay), 1st or 2nd round material.
