If you take a look at the last 40 years of baseball, the only American League teams that have done absolutely better than that are the Yankees and Red Sox. There are teams like the White Sox that have been around since 1901 that have the same number of playoff appearances as the Royals. The Phillies have been around since 1883 and they have 2 titles.
And that doesn't even go into the fact that Kansas City is one of the smallest markets in the sport that usually punishes small markets the most.
