I used to try to fix clocks when I was a kid, my mother used to swear to kill me every time I did.
Honestly; the key; do you have both pieces? Is the door open?
I'm with everyone else but before you put anything or do anything have you searched for used groups/ forums for the clocks?
I would say one wrong part and you could screw the pooch. Victrolas' were like that. All original and broken worth more than working and not original.
