It's partly because of anomalies like Embiid and Simmons. They are freakish talents (especially Embiid) who were good in the NBA as soon as they stepped foot on the court. That seems to be the expectation for these prospects these days, but the fact that Ball hasn't done the same is hardly the end of the world. He still projects to be a good player in the league.
