I don't know what Gareth Edwards has on his plate right now, but after Rogue One I feel like he deserved a shot at IX (and I say that knowing it wasn't totally all him with R1) based on nothing more than how fans reacted after seeing R1. I know (KNOW) both directors had to fit a vision. They did the best they could.
Edwards printed money on Godzilla (****ing Godzilla!) and was smart enough to parlay that somewhere else.
I really didn't care how the rebels got the plans so I still haven't watched that. I don't care how they got the plans.
I don't buy "because you love this."
