The Chiefs didn't really have a choice.
Players always have control in these situations. You see hold outs and stuff every year.
Comes down to whether or not you think Peters would have been willing to sacrifice money to get a trade. Maybe he would have, maybe he wouldn't have, but at that point you're just playing a game of chicken.
And again, when you have a player THAT disgruntled, its best to get him away from other players. One bad apple can fracture a locker room.
