The middle of the field is going to be so much better this year with Hitchens, DOD and Ragland with a year under his belt. That’s not even with Berry returning, whose leadership alone is a massive boost.
We also aren’t completely ****ed if an OLB gets hurt bc we won’t be relying on Zombo as the next man up. Houston, Ford in a contract year, Speaks and Tanoh year 2 is way better than what he had on the depth chart last season.
I think this defense will surprise people. No they won’t be a top unit, but they’ll be better than they were pegged to be.

This is a solid take; although no two years in the NFL are the same. Comparing year to year is basically worthless.
I do think the depth on D has taken a huge leap in the right direction. Age and injuries were the major issue with the 2017 D. Not only did KC lose key contributors like Berry and Ford, they also lost Nelson for a time and DJ was never the same all season after tearing his ACL the year prior. We also had several nagging injuries on the D Line. Bailey played hurt all season as did Jones for the majority of the season.
